Complete Blender Secrets Bundle

Most lessons can be followed with any version of Blender between 2.8 and later (5.2 and up). The techniques used don't depend on new features, it's more evergreen techniques (I dare say, could probably even use them in other 3D software!) But if you find something where I point to a specific button and you can't find it in your version of Blender, just ask and I'll point you to where you can find it (sometimes they like to move things around).

No paid add-ons needed, all done with vanilla Blender. In the course l use some add-ons that come with Blender by default.

You will need a computer that has enough memory for sculpting, for the sculpting course. Most current computers are more than capable of this. The workflow I use, splits the robot up into several objects with Multires modifiers, the displayed viewport subdivisions of which can be turned low or off while you work on other objects, to keep the memory requirements as low as possible for sculpting. But I would recommend, 8GB RAM as a minimum for a pleasant experience with sculpting.

For the sculpting course I recommend a graphic tablet such as for example a Wacom tablet (other brands are available, they are all fine - I use XPPen myself but just because they gave me a free tablet screen. Otherwise I would just keep using my ancient Wacom).

You could use a mouse (I sometimes do, when I feel too lazy to use the pen) but honestly it's really better to use a pen. I used a second hand, 20-year old Wacom Intuos 2 for the first 7 years of my career. It worked fine.

Some basic Blender experience would definitely be a good idea. But no prior sculpting or modeling experience is required. We start simple and slowly ramp up the difficulty.

Of course, it helps if you know the basics of Blender. But I'm here to help, so you can always ask questions.

Sometimes I use the free open-source painting app Krita, like for refining the thumbnail sketch in the Sculpting course. Or for refining the textures in the "stylized girl" character course.

So you can also install that if you want to follow along with the drawing lessons, and to do the texture painting. Although you could also do that in Blender (though there's no reason not to use Krita: It's open-source and free, just like Blender. And pretty easy to learn!)
